Initiation aux sciences de l'archéologie au musée Interlinden de Colmar

 À Colmar, en Alsace, le musée Unterlinden existe depuis 1853 au sein d'un ancien couvent féminin, dont les religieuses furent expulsées pendant la Révolution française, avant que le projet muséal sauve le bâtiment, ses éléments archéologiques, et le patrimoine matériel religieux confisqué.

Il a été enrichi dans de nombreux domaines : archéologie du Haut-Rhin, arts décoratifs et religieux d'Alsace, un cabinet de gravures modernes, des peintures du dix-neuvième siècle à nos jours, des œuvres au crayon, etc. Et surtout, restauré récemment et exposé de manière à la voir en entier : le retable d'Issenheim de Matthias Grünewald (début seizième siècle), parmi plusieurs autres retables.

Deux moments marquants pour moi, dont un lié aux collections de ce blog, parmi les nombreux objets et œuvres.

D'abord, la découverte du grand tableau de 1851 du Strasbourgeois Théophile Schuler, Le Char de la mort qui exprime magnifiquement, à mon humble avis, l'époque romantique entre espoir de la Révolution, conviction chrétienne, et désespoir face à la trop lente agonie des mauvais sentiments humains, tous incarnés par de nombreuses allégories.

Une petite collection de pièces de monnaie antiques de peuples celtes au musée Underlinden, à Colmar, en février 2026.

Le musée accueille aussi une longue galerie sur la préhistoire et l'antiquité régionale (au sens élargi, l'Alsace ayant participé aux espaces et réseaux celtes et romains), classées par âges bien entendu, mais surtout par thématiques des disciplines spécialisées de l'archéologie.

Pour montrer et expliquer le passage et les techniques des âges de pierre et des métaux, les objets trouvés sont accompagnés de grands panneaux expliquant les techniques employés découvertes par Homo sapiens.

À hauteur d'enfant, l'explication du métier de numismate placée sous les monnaies (tous droits réservés, musée Underlinden, Colmar).

Ces panneaux sont accompagnés d'objets reconstitués à toucher, toujours utile avec des enfants, et aussi de petits blocs en vitrine. Sur ces blocs sont posés des trouvailles archéologiques et sur la face avant, l'enfant peut découvrir un des spécialistes étudiant, pendant et après les fouilles, les objets d'un site pour le dater, comprendre les interactions humaines, la chronologie de l'occupation, etc.

Ici, les exemples monétaires permettent de présenter le numismate, ancienne spécialisation de l'archéologue et de l'historien, qui interprète la vie du site selon les monnaies que les archéologues ont trouvées.

Un lapin et de petits dessins attirent le regard enfantin sur ce métier.

Devant le cube, un petit lexique donne les éléments-clés pour comprendre comment les monnaies sont créées (tous droits réservés, musée Underlinden, Colmar).

Enfin, posé devant, un lexique illustré explique en quelques mots et l'action de frappe comment les monnaies sont créées.

Il ne reste plus qu'à organiser ponctuellement des journées archéologiques avec frappe monétaire, reconstitution de vases avec moulage au plâtre de morceaux manquants, etc.

Et une visite au Musée de la Monnaie de Paris, notamment la galerie des métaux, même s'il sera moins touche-à-tout.

Métallurgie, étude des graines fossiles, etc. Toutes les passions et curiosités des visiteurs sont servies par ces petits cubes illustrés.

La boutique du musée colmarien dispose de propositions sur préhistoire, antiquité et archéologie.

Pour les lecteurs de bon niveau, la préhistorienne et ancienne universitaire lyonnaise, Sophie de Beaune, a proposé en 2016 un Qu'est-ce que la Préhistoire ? au sens ce qu'est la discipline Préhistoire qui étudie les humains et leurs sociétés avant l'écriture... ou avec...

Je n'en suis qu'aux premiers chapitres de définitions, mais déjà, sont posées la diversité et la complémentarité des spécialisations des archéologues et des préhistoriens : la fouille qui recense strictement, mais détruit aussi, n'est pas l'analyse interprétative des paléontologues, des sociologues et anthropologues, des numismates,...

J'ai trouvé ce livre quelques jours après Colmar à la boutique du musée des Confluences, à Lyon, héritier des musées d'histoire naturelle et autres cabinets de curiosités de la ville.

Classe ouverte : jeunes artistes actuels

 Pour faire la promotion de leurs premières expositions, les jeunes artistes actuels usent de petits objets collectionnables : affiches, affichettes, créations sur cartes de visite ou autocollants, ou d'un format adapté aux coques transparentes de protection des téléphones portables.

À l'approche du vernissage, le jeudi neuf avril, de son exposition Missing à la Galerie 411, avenue Georges Clemenceau à Montpellier, j'ai pu trouvé plusieurs de ces collectibles, reflétant une partie de ses thématiques.

L'affiche, grand comme petit format, reprend le personnage-clé de Kuro : un peu lui-même, un peu l'adolescent dont la tête reflète l'état d'esprit. Ici, assez triste mais couronné dans un paysage de mas héraultais, entouré d'amis ou parents heureux, mais loin des préoccupations du héros.

Dos illustré de la carte de visite de Kuro222 en tant que tatoueur, illustrateur et muraliste (oui, il y a un lien avec la Fête du timbre 2026).

Ces personnages réalistes, comme sur sa carte de visite ou, plus cartoon, à la tête remplacée d'illustrations d'idées à foison, sont le motif principal de ses essais adolescents, et désormais de sa carrière principale de tatoueur. Un art corporel qui sied bien au trait simple et aux petits formats, sauf projets de l'artiste ou commandes du client.

Dernier objet reçu et facile à scanner : cet autocollant en couleur sur papier métal, qui montre comment les personnages ont évolué depuis les traits simples aux couleurs et dégradés de gris.

Autocollant... car artiste muraliste.

Là, il faut visiter Montpellier et les communes alentours. La signature au pochoir "Kuro222" se trouve de temps à autre près de certains établissements scolaires, trottoirs et chaussées du centre-ville, mobiliers de chantiers urbains, etc.

Plusieurs de ses fresques murales sont à connaître rapidement, les propriétaires n'étant pas toujours au courant (avec rafraîchissement en blanc au frais de l'artiste)... même s'il tend à choisir des murs isolés : abri dans les vignes ou en bordure de garrigues par exemple. Des commandes existent pour des murs dans l'espace public et certains établissements scolaires accueillant de courtes résidences d'artistes pour former à l'art les élèves et faire vivre les artistes anonymes.

Mon timbre en ligne touristique : Angoulême

 Un peu de bonheur et de couleurs dans ce monde de brutes.

Timbre imprimé sur le site de La Poste, au dessin sur Angoulême, avec sticker de suivi, sur enveloppe postée le lundi trente mars et arrivée le premier avril 2026.

J'ai consommé, comme la société capitaliste de marché attend de moi, quelques éléments LEGO postaux qui manquait à ma collection actuelle... à un vendeur en ligne français.

L'enveloppe était affranchie avec donc un timbre en ligne, imprimé à domicile, pour lequel a joliment choisi une vue d'Angoulême à vélo (le vendeur est de l'autre côté du pays).

Voilà.

C'est tout.

Oblitération à message allemande à Prague en novembre 1945 (HEIN ?!!)

 Je reste dubitatif face à la réponse à une question de lecteurs parue dans le numéro d'avril 2026 d'un magazine philatélique français dont le rédacteur-en-chef écrivait dans son éditorial de janvier, suite à un repas de fin d'année chez son propriétaire à Amiens : « Comme rédacteur-en-chef, il m'est difficile d'être impartial et j'aurais plutôt tendance à dire que nous sommes les "meilleurs". » pour justifier pourquoi sa publication ne proposait pas de participer aux compétitions de littérature philatélique.

À la première lecture, j'ai même cru à un poisson d'avril - tradition que j'apprécie peu.

Un objet philatélique quasi-identique à celui en question à la page dix du magazine concerné (vente sur le site Le Bon Coin).

En quelques instants sur le moteur de recherches Google (par mots-clés en allemand, puis à partir du cliché photographique de l'oblitération à message de propagande), j'ai trouvé une réponse qui me paraît plus pertinente que : Oh ! Des anti-communistes tchèques tentent sous le nez de l'Armée rouge et du KGB de s'opposer au bolchevisme avec des timbres à l'effigie d'Hitler et un slogan en tchèque et en allemand, six mois après la capitulation du Troisième Reich !!!

Un autre exemple de souvenir philatélique de timbres du Protectorat et d'une oblitération à message bilingue, ici du quatorze septembre 1941 (via le site philatélique spécialisé et marchand German-Reich.de)

Ainsi, je découvre rapidement un site philatélique marchand qui fait dans l'instruction du collectionneur de timbres-poste : German-Reich.de, dédié à expliquer les enjeux de la philatélie allemande de 1872 à 1945, territoires occupés inclus.

Sur la page dédiée au protectorat de Bohême et Moravie, un souvenir de la foire de Prague (ci-dessus) montre la réponse sur le problème de la date du souvenir antibolchévique : en Allemagne, le mois est indiqué en chiffre arabe ; côté tchèque, c'est un chiffre romain qui l'identifie sur l'oblitération, même les oblitérations courantes (voir cette enveloppe de la même série hitlérienne sur un site de vente polonais).

14. IX. 41 pour ce souvenir de la foire de Prague, donc le 14 septembre 1941.

Pour le souvenir antibolchévique, -3. II. 45-15 se lit 3 février 1945 à 15 heures et non 3 novembre 1945.

Que le lecteur s'interroge et serve à d'autres dans les mêmes doutes, c'est naturel si les chiffres romains sur timbres et oblitérations lui est inhabituel. Mais que le journaliste creuse une explication possible, mais pas la plus simple à vivre pour les résistants tchèques de novembre 1945, ni à prouver (ou alors, citer l'ouvrage et son auteur qui le raconte).

Vente de l'oblitération anti-bolchévique sur un site tchèque, datée du vingt-huit janvier 1945 (sur aukro.cz).

Pour l'oblitération à messages, en double ligne dans la partie inférieure du cercle extérieur (ou aussi dans la bande centrale), j'en ai vu plusieurs côté Allemagne pré-1945 au cours de cette recherche. Je ne sais si la poste tchécoslovaque avait cette façon de faire avant les accords de Munich.

Par la recherche inversée Google Images, en partant d'une photographie de l'oblitération proposée par le lecteur du magazine (en ôtant le timbre qui gêne le moteur de recherche), on trouve un site de vente tchèque où cette marque est proposée sur fragment datée du vingt-huit janvier 1945 (28. I. 45, pas de confusion ici) en 2021 à 390 couronnes tchèques (environ quinze euros).

L'erreur est humaine, mais rappelons que le meilleur des utilisateurs de chiffres romains du magazine aurait pu être consulté, lui qui en est, en avril 2026, au nombre LXXIII.

The Postcrossing Stamp List

Note: as Google and web browsers provide translating capabilities, I abandoned the blog in English, but for the List of the Postcrossing related Stamps (original address). Now this list will be hosted, updated and republished on date on SébPhilatélie.

Since a post on May 17th, 2014, I have updated a personal stamp catalogue celebrating Postcrossing, a website to send and receive postcards among members either by chance through the site, or voluntarily through the forum if you want to exchange mail with specific countries or on specialised topics.

Don't hesitate to participate, even with a few cards per months: it's the way to ensure there will be a conteporary stamp and postal history in the decades to come. In ten years, celebrated on last July 14th, more than thirty one millions cards were sent.

The main source is the website's blog and, from there, the website of the postal operators who issued the stamps. As you are going to see hereunder, many post offices understood the interest to issue such stamps: encouraging correspondance, national and foreign philatelic orders, free publicity.

Shamefully, the French philatelic service, Phil@poste, did not... yet? Even a strict dictatorship encouraged its citizens to write and receive mail!

Since 2011 a quite number of stamps were issued for this website by the will and lobbying of its members, and interest of the postal and philatelic services. What voluntary website can say that too?

And indeed, a red world map, centered on the Atlantic Ocean, is included inside a heart-shaped stamp of light violet color. The Postcrossing name is written accross like by hand. The heart is included a perforated square, 3.8 cm of side. Design by Cecilia Mattsson, and printed in offset by Cartor Securiry Printing, in sheets of 28 stamps, in four columns of 14 separeted by 7 decorated labels on the correspondence topic.

Each depict a local animal mailing a postcard into a blue streetbox ; postcard are franked with a reproduction of the stamp itself: self stamp on stamp! On 1 May 2021 there are 73 Postcrossing members in Guernsey who sent more than 17'000 cards to the world.

Fish: six people represented by arms and hands are either writing or receiving a postcard. 100,000 stamps printed.

48. (DEU #1) : 6 October 2022, by Deutche Post (Germany). Value 0,95 € for a worldwide postcard of small size. Illustration by Greta Gröttrup made of three Postcrossers writing, sending and receiving joyfully postcards.

The German Postcrossing community is the largest by number of postcards sent: 11,4 million as of 30 August 2022.

 49. (NZL #1) : 7 August 2024, by NZ Post (New Zealand - Aotearoa). Value 3,30 $ the rate for the international 13x22,5 cm postcard. Illustration by Sumi Ha (this artist?) of a Kiwi working as a postman and flying thank to a bunch of baloons in the night. Printed in lithography and in sheets of 20 stamps by Brebner Print in Napier (North Island) ; the kiwi is printed with a shiny overcoat.

50-51. (POL #2-3): 26 October 2024 by Poczta Polska (Poland), value 4.90 and 10 new złotys (PLN), printed by PWPW in sheet of 12 items. Printing is 144,000 stamps for each design. Designs by Agata Tobolczyk.

For the 4.90 PLN a smiling red posbox is receiving a postcard wih a heart drawn on it. On the 10 PLN a Postcrossing anthropomorphic postcard is travelling the globe.

At the date of issue:

- 4.90 PLN pays the nationwide economic letter/postcard up to 50 grams,

- 10 PLN pays the international letter up to 50 grams to zone A (European continent including Cyprus, Russia and Israel).

52-56. (BEL #1-5): 16 June 2025 by bpost (Belgium), value "1 Europe" for the standardised letter rate up to 50 grams to European countries.

Each stamp designed by Geert Wille is a step in writing, sending, postal travelling and receiving a postard. The five stamps are placed inside an illustrated minisheet mimicking an international postcard with a fake "2025" cancel, a Belgian blue "A Prior[ity]" airmail label.

The official title is "20 Years of Postcrossing", expressed on the address lines as "Postcrossing 2005-2025". Around the stamps usual greetings are proposed in Dutch ("Beste... / Groeten wit Belgiën") and in French ("Cher... Bonjour de Belgique").

The "1 Europe" rate is 2,90 euro if you buy a lone stamp, but the price is 2,78 euro as soon as you buy five stamps and more. So this minisheet should be sold 13,90 € (see prices on bpost eshop).

A Postcrosser on the Postcrossing Blog gave event information: first day cancellation with bpost employees on Saturday 14 June in Kalken (Laarne) in East Flanders. This philatelic event takes place during SKALAFILA 2025, a two-day week-end regional stamp and picture postcard competitive exhibition, organised by Themafila-Wetteren stamp club.

57. (NED #12): 14 July 2025 by postnl (Netherlands), value "1 international" for the worldwide mail.

For the 20th anniversary of the Postcrossing project, Sandra Smulders design a Dutch tricolore flag colour stamps: blue, white, red, displayed as airmail envelope margins, zigzags evocating travel. In gray letters are being moved throughout the blue world map and to the red houses.

This stamp sold in minisheet of six is the third issue and twelfth stamp of the Netherlands on this topic.

The four triangular stamps issued 26 May 2026 by the USPS (via The Postcrossing Blog, 31st March 2026).

58-61 (USA #1-4): 26 May 2026 by the United States Postal Service (United States of America), value "Global Forever" for an worldwide mail under one ounce (around 28.34 grams).

Designed by Antonio Alcalá and illustrated by Jackson Gibbs, the four stamps are made of very bright colours, in the shape of isocele triangles that can form square when sold by four or sheet. They depict two traditional way to visiting the USA: horse-riding in a cacti and rocky landscape (reminding the Pony Express?) and motorbike along a road surrender by palm trees. The two other way are sea diving and space walk.

The four characters aren't dressed of postal employee, hence they are suggested as inhabitants and visitors sending memories to friends and Postcrossers abroad.

The first day of issue ceremony, on 26 May, takes place during Boston 2026 World Expo, the decennal international philatelic exhibition of the main United States philatelic societies. US Postcrossers will organise Postcrossing meet-ups to send cards the Postcrossing way every day of the show between 23 and 30 May 2026.

The 2021 Donbass stamp (Post Donbass webshop).

1. (Donbass #1): 14 July 2021 (Postcrossing anniversary day) by Post Donbass for the People's Republic of Donetsk, secessionist from Ukraine. Valued 24 roubles. Over a globe, two hands exchange a postcard ; monuments of Eastern Europe 20th century drawn over the map of Europe ; a motto: "Happy Postcrossing!". Adhesive with circled ondulated perforation, in a square of 35 mm ; printed in offset in sheets of 35 stamps. Catalogue number 257.

Note: As described on the Postcrossing page of the Post Donbass website, this stamp can't be used on international mail. It is believed that Russian postage would be put on mail from Donbass. Post Donbass employees participate to the Postcrossing project and encourage the local public to join.
